Power Strips Alert

Power Strips Alert

They can be dangerous !!!!

For the record all appliances should be plugged directly into their own receptacle, never using an extension cord or plugged into a power strip!

If, however, you happen to be working on anything (in our case an appliance) plugged into a power strip DO NOT flip the little switch on the side and trust that the power has been disconnected to whatever you have plugged in to the strip! Regardless if the lights go out on the appliance!

Ice Maker Design Change

Energy Standards WILL (once again) Negatively Affect Longevity

The current design in icemakers found in almost every refrigerator manufactured for the past 30 + years, produces a cube shaped like a crescent or half-moon.  The design was considered revolutionary since the icemaker was incredibly reliable, relatively inexpensive, could be replaced as an entire assembly, and produced a high volume of ice in a reasonably short amount of time. Apparently all good things must come to an end. The old reliable ice makers have a small heater under the mold body to heat up the mold allowing the cubes to be raked out of the mold and dumped into the ice bucket. This mold heater makes this ice maker design less energy efficient, causing the appliance makers to have to come up with a solution in order to meet government energy standards.
