KitchenAid Appliance Repair

The KitchenAid name has always represented a higher end appliance. Their claim to fame started when they were strictly a dishwasher and mixer manufacturer. The performance of those original KitchenAid dishwashers and mixers were legendary. Ask anyone over the age of 45 what the best dishwasher was when they were a kid and you’ll hear the same answer: KitchenAid! Look on the kitchen counter of most middle income families in America today and you will most likely see a KitchenAid mixer. It became a “must have” kitchen product for the average person within the last twenty years. You would know this if you have attended a young couples wedding recently because it is certain to be on their gift registry!

KitchenAid has always been a rugged, durable product. The original KitchenAid dishwasher weighed 250 lb’s and took real commitment to install one by yourself. Porcelain tub, steel framing, galvanized or copper piping and components, I’m talking heavy! For the longest time KitchenAid represented the lone product in the high end dishwasher line. There were no other choices and when a few brands such as Thermador and Waste King attempted to compete with a high end dishwasher that came with a stainless steel inner tub, there simply was no comparison. The ongoing joke in the service industry was that KitchenAid competitors were the prettiest dishwashers in the junk yard. Seriously!

KitchenAid purchased the Chamber Range company in 1955 and began offering a high end suite of cooking appliances. The Chambers ranges were of a very similar quality to the KitchenAid. Both products were incredibly well built and lasted for decades. In fact we had a service customer in August of 2012 that called us to repair her 90 year old Chambers range. That’s right, I said ninety folks! The lady was 85 and the range was her grandmothers! Unfortunately, parts were no longer available and she was not interested in sending the product to an out of state restoration company who promised to bring the product back to mint condition for $3500 or so (plus shipping).

KitchenAid was purchased by Whirlpool in 1986 and they wisely expanded the brands offerings to include refrigerators and eventually washers and dryers and all the rest (washer and dryer sales were discontinued in the early 2000’s). Whirlpool has done a decent job at maintaining the KitchenAid tradition of producing very high end appliances. Our Landers Appliance service technician’s find the KitchenAid products dependable, easy to service, long lasting, parts are readily available from most major parts vendors throughout the US and the brand is well supported by the parent company Whirlpool. We like KitchenAid appliances!
