How to Use Ovens with Air Fryers

Does your oven have an air fryer? Here’s how to use it.

In recent years, air fryers have changed how many Americans think about cooking.

You can find countertop air fryers in the appliance section of many stores, but there are other ways to enjoy this type of cooking. Manufacturers are adding air fry modes to toaster ovens, microwaves, and ranges. Many famous appliance brands make ovens with built-in air fry settings.

If you are interested in air fryers but don’t want to sacrifice counter space for another big appliance, ovens with built-in air fryers are a convenient compromise. Many of the steps you would take with regular air frying are the same with oven air frying. Here are some tips on using ovens with air fryers.

Preheat Your Oven

Preheating your oven is an essential step no matter what you are cooking. Just like with countertop air fryers, when you are using your oven to air fry, you should preheat it so it comes to temperature before putting food in.

Use Cookware Meant for Ovens with Air Fryers

Countertop air fryers come with trays or baskets designed for use in the appliances. However, that’s not always the case with ovens with built-in air fryers. You can buy air frying racks or use trays you already have at home. If you decide not to buy racks designed for air frying, use a dark, non-stick baking sheet for the best results. The tray should be placed on the middle rack of the oven. Non-stick cookie sheets are wide enough to accommodate a pile of your favorite air-fried snacks. Its reliable non-stick coating makes cleaning it a breeze.

Don’t Overcrowd Your Food

Just like traditional air frying, overloading your oven air fryer will not give you the best results. Adding too much food to the tray can make your meal soggy or unevenly cooked. The advantage that ovens have over countertop air fryers is their size. You will be able to cook more food in your oven at once.

Follow All Cooking Instructions

When you cook frozen foods, follow the instructions on the package. Cooking times will vary depending on the food, so it is important to read all instructions thoroughly. Regardless of what you are cooking, don’t forget to flip or stir your food halfway through, as it will help with even cooking.
